Sculptural Blacksmithing Bottle Opener Workshop

Dates:  Dec 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19

Time Slots: 930-1230PM or 1-4PM

Price: $100/person(2 person limits). 

    In this workshop students will be guided through the forging process and techniques required to create the a sculptural bottle opener. Time will be spent discussing designs, surface texture, and the tools required to make the desired shapes, textures and finishes. Students are encouraged to try their own designs or follow along for a horse head style.  No previous forging experience is necessary.

Students are recommended to wear closed toed shoes and pants that cover the top of the boot. As well as natural fiber clothing. All other safety protection is will be provided, feel free to bring your own.

Participants will be required to sign a waiver in order to participate, anyone under 18 must have a signature from a legal guardian. Email copies available upon request. bloodhoundforge@gmail.com

Chef Knife Making Workshop

 

Dates: TBA

Price: $500/person. 

    This two day intensive course, will have students learn the process of forging a chef knife from start to finish. We will discuss metallurgy, heat treating as well as blade geometry and design. Once forged we will work through grinding and sanding to shape. Students will then learn about heat treating and will finish off the course by fitting a handle. This is an introductory course. No previous forging experience is necessary. This is open to up to 2 students max. 

 

Students are recommended to wear closed toed shoes and pants that cover the top of the boot. As well as natural fiber clothing. All other safety protection is will be provided, feel free to bring your own.

Introduction to Blacksmithing

Dates: Email for available dates.

Price: $500/person. 

    In this two day introductory class students will be guided through the fundamentals of blacksmithing and fire maintenance. In this class we will use a coal fire but we will touch on the use of propane and other fuel sources. Students will work through the techniques to create a fork, a simple knife in the first day and a Candle Stick in the second. We will touch on basic metallurgy and a little history of the craft as well as where it is going and where it fits in today's world. This is an introductory course. No previous forging experience is necessary.
